Illegal weapons, ammo and cannabis found at Campbellville; 5,300 Marijuana plants destroyed at Linden

11.4kg of Cannabis, One .357 Taurus Magnum Revolver and six live matching rounds along with Two  9MM Pistols and thirty-six live .45 rounds were discovered by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF). 

The discovery was made between 18:30 and 21:00 hrs yesterday (Friday, May 26, 2017) at a house located at Duncan Street, Campbellville.

A 32-year-old male and his 31-year-old spouse have been taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, ranks in Linden between the hours of 16:30 and 18:00 hours conducted an eradication exercise during which several acres of cultivated cannabis, with an estimated 5,300 plants, ranging in height of 6 inches to 5 feet and two make-shift camps were found and destroyed by fire.

A 20-year-old South Ruimveldt male is in custody assisting with the investigation.

Additionally, a Lethem man was arrested with 70 grams of cannabis.

According to information received, Police ranks in ‘F’ Division whilst on a mobile patrol on the Takatu Bridge, Lethem last night arrested 39-year-old Jimmy Johnson called “Yankee” with seventy grams of cannabis.

Enquiries disclosed that about 20:00hrs, the suspect who was walking on the bridge, on seeing the police, quickly dropped a bag, which was retrieved and found to contain the illegal substance.

He is being processed for court.
