Twenty – five – year old Ryan Singh of 48 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown and of #2 Village East Canje Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore today, at the Sisters Magistrate’s Court, East Bank Berbice, charged with the murder of 17-year-old Parbattie Lakhpal, also known as Rosanna.

The incident occurred on July 29, 2017 at #2 Village East Canje Berbice. Singh did not have legal representation and was not required to plead to the charge. He was remanded to prison until September 29, 2017. After allegedly committing the gruesome murder, Singh fled to Suriname but was apprehended by authorities there and returned to Guyana on August 9.

On July 29, the dead remains of Lakhpal were discovered in the lower flat of a two story concrete building where she and the suspect resided. It was reported that moments before, the couple had a heated argument. She was found face down with a slit to her throat.
