GDF ranks charged with robbery

Two Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Officers were on Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman for robbery with violence.

Tumulus Richards of Plum Park, Sophia and Clive Seymour of Enmore, East Coast Demerara, both aged 20, denied the joint charge.

Particulars of the charge alleged that on September 12,2017 at Timehri, East Bank Demerara, they robbed Keron Wills of a Blu cellphone valued $17,000 with the use of personal violence.

According to reports, on the day in question, Wills was walking through a shortcut at Timehri, when he was confronted by the two GDF soldiers. One of them allegedly choked him while the other relieved him of his phone. The victim managed to raise an alarm and public spirited persons managed to nab Seymour before he escaped.

They were remanded to prison until September 18, 2017.
