Plaisance woman jailed, fined $3.8M for cocaine trafficking
A 43-year-old Plaisance, East Coast Demerara woman was sentenced to three years jail and fined $3.8M by Magistrate, Annett Singh for trafficking cocaine in 2016.
Andrea Paula Winfield was found guilty of attempting to traffic 2.548 kilograms of cocaine to Canada through the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri on December 16, 2016.
According to reports, on the day in question, officials at the airport became suspicious when Paula failed to give a Canadian address to a Customs Officer.
When her luggage was checked, a quantity of cocaine was found and Winfield was arrested.
