Diamond youth charged with murder
A 22-year-old Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) resident, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with the murder of a machine operator, who was shot during a robbery.
Rayon Carter was not required to plea to the indictable offence, which alleged that on January 13, 2018, at Kaneville, EBD he murdered Ishwar Ramanah during the course of a robbery.
Carter did not have legal representation and was remanded to prison until February 22, 2018.
Police had stated that Ramanah, known as ‘Jack’, was shot to his abdomen during a robbery at his home about 00:10hrs on December 13, 2017, by one of two armed bandits.
He was rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where died after surgery.
