Leonora Hospital closed due to severe flooding

The Leonora Hospital on the West Coast of Demerara has been temporarily closed due to flooding as a result of the high tides and overtopping earlier today.
The Mildred Cox Young Health Centre at Den Amstel is now operating as a temporary hospital around the clock, the Department of Public Information (DPI) announced this evening.
The public is advised to visit this facility or the West Demerara Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
The Leonora Hospital is expected to be fully functional in three days, DPI said.

According to DPI, the centres will house residents affected by the flooding and will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner.
