East Coast Guinness in the Streets kick-off with a bang

The East Coast leg of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets football competition commenced on Wednesday evening at the Haslington tarmac; where a number of teams got off to positive starts.

Buxton Diamond looked good against Mahaica Guinness Bar with a comfortable 3-nil to kick off their campaign in the tournament.

Buxton easily dissected the defence of Mahaica Guinness Bar that allowed Kaleef Hamza to easily score a double in the third and 12th minutes while Dillon Wright scored in the sixth.

Belfield Warriors also eased their way to the next round in the tournament with a 3-nil win against Plaisance-A.

Nickroy Holder scored back-to-back goals in the third and fourth minutes while Keyron Johnson scored the opener in the second and Belfield put Plaisance away early to cruise to their win.

Paradise-A also took down Plaisance-B in a surprising 3-nil fashion.

Paradise-A are an immediate threat in the tournament with the performance against the Plaisance side that has always gone deep in the East Coast leg of the tournament.

Joseph Peters opened with a goal in the fifth minute of the match while Quincy Adams recorded a golden goal. A golden goal is any goal scored in the final three minutes that will count as two goals.

Meanwhile, Mahaica Determinators needled Haslington Hypers with a 1-nil win to start their campaign on a high note in the tournament.

Samuel Van Dyke buried the winner in the 16th minute as Mahaica successfully held off Haslington who kept attacking in the final minutes.

Uprising also got a 2-nil win over Melanie-A in another shocker of a game. With the game winding down, Phillip Williams buried a golden goal to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, in other results; Victoria Church Yard topped BV-B 3-2 on Sudden Death Kicks after a nil-all draw, BV-A topped Police-B 1-nil, Melanie-B won 2-nil on penalty kicks after a nil-all draw with Buxton.

Action in the tournament will continue on Saturday at the Haslington tarmac from 19:00h.
