About two weeks ago, the aircraft, which transported several Venezuelan attorneys to Guyana, was detained by law enforcement officers

Venezuelan attorneys were on-board the private plane which is currently the subject of a police investigation, the Guyana Police Force revealed today.

A privately chartered aircraft, which police said has a false registration number, landed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) Monday afternoon under questionable circumstances.

Police said the pilots and passengers were invited to Guyana by Mr Michael Brassington, a businessman.

Mr Brassington and the four passengers visited the Criminal Investigations Headquarters Tuesday morning around 11:00hrs on their own accord, police said.

Shortly after, the two pilots arrived in the presence of ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU).

“The passengers two of whom are attorneys-at-law and the pilots are all Venezuelans,” the police statement noted.

The men are currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.

While the arrival of private planes is not unusual, police say there are several irregularities in this instance.
