Night Club Manager, suspected TIP victims arrested
The police have arrested a female manager of the Avis Lounge and Night Club at Rosignol, West Coast Berbice (WCB) night club along with six female foreign nationals who are suspected to be victims of Trafficking in Persons (TIP).
Police Headquarters said a joint search of the entertainment establishment by Police and Enforcement Officers of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Friday night resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of alcohol.
News Room understands that the suspected TIP victims are all Venezuelans.
Editor’s note (Monday, September 10, 2018): The women have since provided their documents to the police who ascertained that they were not trafficked and as such, they have been released.
