Mazaruni Prison search nets improvised weapons, other illegal items
A search of the Mazaruni Prison by the Joint Services has resulted in the confiscation of improvised weapons and other illegal items.
The search was conducted Monday morning by a total of 40 ranks attached to the Guyana Prison Service, the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Fire Service.
Several areas of the prison were searched.
The items seized were seven phones, one charger, one earpiece, one battery, 20 cigarette lighters, one cutlass, three improvised weapons, and one pack playing cards.
