Rape accused released on bail
A 26-year-old construction worker was released on $250,000 bail for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
Calvin Mann, of Timehri, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plea to the indictable charge, which was read in camera by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.
The incident occurred between August 1 and August 31, 2018.
Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne opposed bail on the grounds that the victim and accused know each other.
The Chief Magistrate, however, overruled the objection and released the rape accused on bail.
Mann, who was represented by Attorney-a-Law, Stanley Moore, is slated to return to court on October 23.
