Electricity has been restored to Matthew’s Ridge, Region One after a stolen turbocharger was recovered and the Power Station Operator jailed.

A turbocharger from the generator was stolen by the operator and sold to a miner leading to blackouts in the area, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure had announced on November 14.

In a statement Monday, the Ministry said due to the “diligence and hard work of the police officers” the missing piece of equipment was found and the operation sentenced to six months imprisonment.

“The Ministry of Public Infrastructure along with the Hinterland Electrification Company Incorporation, would like to thank the Police Officers at Matthew’s Ridge for their successful investigation and diligence in ensuring the stolen turbocharger was recovered,” the statement added.
