Woman dies in mining pit accident
A 44-year-old woman has died after a mining pit caved in on Tuesday at Two Miles, Arakaka, North West District (NWD).
Eleen Figueira was among several persons who were mining for gold in the pit when it collapsed and buried her, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the Pakera District Hospital after her body was taken out of the pit by her daughter, Teletha France.
The body is presently at the Pakera District Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
