Siblings’ fight leaves brother in critical state

A 26-year-old man is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was struck to the head with a piece of wood by his 22-year-old brother on Monday morning.

Police said that the suspect, Parmanand Persaud invited his 22-year-old brother, Yasaue Persaud to his Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home on Sunday evening to celebrate their sister’s birthday.

Reports are that the brothers were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued and escalated into a fight and he hit the young man in the head with a 2X4 wood, which rendered him unconscious.

Yasaue was rushed to Diamond Hospital where he was treated and transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital in a critical condition.
