Diamond man arrested with counterfeit money
Police have arrested a Diamond, East Bank Demerara man for possession of a quantity of counterfeit $5000 bills.
Police said an intelligence-led operation last Saturday resulted in the arrest of Alston Pires, 23, of lot 16 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. He was caught at the Stabroek Market with the counterfeit currency.
Pires has since been charged and will be arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Tuesday.
