The Junior Caribbean Cycling Championship concluded at the weekend in Bartica with foreign riders dominating the podium. Home team Guyana failed to medal at the two-day event.

On Sunday, Trinidad and Tobago’s Enrique Comarmond won the Junior Road Race, to match his success in the Time Trial the previous day.

Competing in the 52.2-mile race, Comarmond was timed at 2:30.22s, followed by Kianny Noel of St. Martin second with a time of 2:30.33s. Nicholas Narraway of Bermuda had to settle for silver with an effort of 2:34.25s.

In the Juvenile race earlier in the day, Derex Segarra of Puerto Rico emerged winner of the 36.54 miles showdown, clocking 1:48.34s. Alexander Miller, who copped gold in the Time Trial, took silver in 1:48.35s, followed by Michael Dizon-Bumann of US Virgin Islands with a time of 1:48.36s.

In the Junior Time Trial on Saturday, Comarmond was fastest, finishing ahead of Narraway and Rene Gayral of Antigua and Barbuda, while in the Juvenile, Miller took gold, leaving Segarra and Liam Flannery of Bermuda to settle for silver and bronze respectively.
