President commissions Linden Broadcasting Network

President David Granger commissioned the Linden Broadcasting Network on Saturday afternoon.
“This station is an important forward step in improving the level of communication in Guyana,” the Head of State said, as he described it as a monumental occasion.
He noted that the aim of the Regional Public Broadcasting Service is to ensure there is a station in every town.
This, the President said, is to “communicate with the residents of the region and also other regions and the wider world.”

He said it is important that Lindeners are provided with a platform to showcase their many talents and relay news emanating from the community with Guyana and the rest of the world.
“I believe that the LBN here, positioned as it is, will be in a great position to do that.”

Since assuming office in 2015, the Coalition Government has commissioned several radio stations across the country in their quest to bridge the information gap between the coast and the hinterland. (Extracted and modified from Department of Public Information)
