Greenheart poles topple from truck on Harbour Bridge; causes major traffic jam
Lamp poles being transported by a truck over the Demerara Harbour Bridge toppled Tuesday evening resulting in a halt to traffic on both the eastern and western end of the bridge.
General Manager of the Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation Rawlston Adams told the News Room that the poles “are lying all over the bridge.”
Mr Adams said that the truck was heading to the western side of the bridge when the incident occurred.
The incident has resulted in a major traffic jam on the East Bank and West Bank of Demerara and occurred during the rush hour traffic of everyone heading out of the city.
