28 new COVID-19 cases recorded

Guyana on August 18 recorded 28 new COVID-19 cases of which there are four in Region Three, 12 in Region Four, one in Region Seven, 10 in Region Nine.

A second case was recorded in Region Seven but that person –a 32-year-old man who was being treated for Malaria at the Bartica Regional Hospital –was tested after he died on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry of Health’s dashboard, the total number of known cases is now 737.

The total number of deaths moved to 25 with three in the past three days.

The recoveries are now at 365 – an increase from the 349 reported on Monday.

There are 61 active cases in institutional isolation and 282 persons in home isolation.

There are 76 persons in institutional quarantine.
