East Coast residents killed in accident

Two men were on Friday killed in an accident on the Chateau Margot Public Road on the East of Demerara (ECD) which occurred at around 06:45h.

Dead are 52-year-old Lionel Brower, a Security Guard who was attached to Demerara Bank ECD Brach and 24-year-old Kevin Persaud, a mechanic of Goedverwagting, ECD.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that Brower, who resided at Bachelors Adventure, was riding motorcycle CJ 7916 while Persaud was driving motorcar PEE 3030.

Police said both men were driving east on the southern side of the road with the driver speeding during which he collided with the rear of the motorcycle.

After the collision, the driver of the car lost control and ended up in a canal on the northern side of the road and the motorcycle ended up on the southern driveway.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle ended up about 100 feet east on the southern side of the road.

Both drivers received injuries about their bodies and were picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by the Police where they were pronounced dead.

The bodies are currently at Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post Mortem Examination.
