Gold miner severely injured in mining pit accident
A 28-year-old gold miner is in a serious condition at the Mabaruma Regional Hospital after the mining pit he was working on caved in and covered him on Friday.
Terence Anthony of Unity Square, Aruka River, North West District (NWD) was working at Iyana Backdam, Barama River, NWD on land dredge when at around 12:00h, the pit caved in.
The victim was rescued by his crew members and taken to the hospital. Investigations are ongoing.
