161 new COVID cases recorded in two days

Guyana recorded a total of 161 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday and Sunday from an overall 1, 619 tests. This takes the total number of confirmed cases to 10, 168.

Ninty-six of the cases were recorded on Sunday, while 65 were recorded on Saturday.

The majority of the cases were recorded in Region Four with a total of 93 cases. This was followed by Region Three with 37 new cases; Region Six recorded 13 new cases, Region Seven nine cases while Region Ten recorded five new cases and Region Two recorded four.

According to the Ministry of Health daily COVID-19 dashboard, there are 13 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; 54 patients are in institutional isolation and 995 are in home isolation.

Two more COVID deaths were recorded on Saturday, taking the death toll to 227.

Meanwhile, total recoveries to date are 8, 879.
