89 new COVID-19 cases; 16 in ICU

On Tuesday, Guyana recorded 89 new COVID-19 infections from 251 tests, taking the country’s overall total confirmed cases to 14,531.

The majority of new cases were recorded in Region Four with 47 new infections; Region Ten came in with 24 new cases while Region Seven recorded eight new cases.

Region One recorded one new case while Regions Three, Five and Six recorded six, two and one new case each; Regions Two, Eight and Nine recorded no new cases.

Thus far, 12,443 persons have recovered from the dreaded disease. Guyana’s total number of deaths also hiked to 331 since the pandemic hit these shores in March 2020.

There are 1,640 patients in home isolation, 101 patients are in institutional isolation and 16 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
