Man, 25, placed on bail for causing death of 19-y-old

Casey Stephen, 25, was placed on bail after pleading not guilty to causing the death of 19-year-old Ryan Boodhoo of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

The man was charged for causing death by dangerous driving, failing to render assistance, being an unlicensed driver and being in breach of his insurance.

On Wednesday, he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, East Bank of Demerara, to answer to the charges.

The man pleaded not guilty to all charges and was placed on $1 million bail for causing death by dangerous driving and $20,000 each for the other offences.

The matter was adjourned until September 10, 2021.

Stephen was the driver of motorcar PZZ 2881 that was involved in the hit and run fatal accident, which occurred on Sunday August 15, 2021, on the Kairuni Public Road Soesdyke/Linden Highway that claimed the life of Boodhoo.
