The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) is continuing to offer relief aid to the flood affected community of Eteringbang, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

Over the past three months, residents in the area have been impacted by flooding due to heavy rainfall.

On Friday last, the CDC delivered a quantity of additional food hampers, hygiene kits and water purification tablets to the community. Persons residing on the waterfront are significantly impacted, and as such, were in need of supplemental relief aid, CDC said in a statement.

A flood assessment conducted in the community last week revealed that an average of eighty (80) households, commercial entities and farmlands were inundated at Eteringbang with water level reaching 10 feet.

The Commission maintains partnerships with all national and regional bodies to receive regular updates on the flood situation across Guyana.
