Man busted with ganja worth $4.7M
Duvendra Sukhdeo, a 39-year-old driver from Republic Park on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD), was busted with some 15.6 kilograms (or 34.3 pounds) of cannabis on Monday.
According to a report from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), officers from this body intercepted a motorcar within the vicinity of the Rahaman’s Park at Houston, EBD. Those officers were acting on information received and discovered eight “bulky parcels” containing suspected cannabis in the vehicle.
CANU said that this was both foreign and local cannabis and that the narcotics were valued at more than $4.7 million. Subsequently, the driver was arrested.
