CANU destroys $70M worth of ‘ganja’ at Victoria backlands

A team from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Tuesday destroyed a marijuana camp located on a one-acre land at Victoria backdam, East Coast Demerara.
A CANU release noted that ranks visited the camp after receiving “intelligence.”

At the camp, CANU found a quantity of male and female clothing, a total of 5,000 cannabis plants ranging from 3-5 ft in height along with 15 100lb salt bags containing processed cannabis, equivalent to 500kgs (1,102lbs).
No arrest was made; CANU said the street value of the 500kgs is approximately G$70 million. Investigations are ongoing.
