U-19 World Cup: West Indies get campaign back on track with win over Scotland

After an opening defeat to Australia on day one of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup last Friday at Providence, West Indies rebounded to beat Scotland by seven wickets on Monday in St. Kitts.
Opting to bowl first in their Group D match-up, West Indies skittled out Scotland for just 95 in 35.1 overs. The Caribbean lads then responded well, getting to 96-3 in 19.4 overs to take full points from the contest.

Shiva Sankar was the outstanding performer for West Indies when Ireland batted, the right-arm medium-pacer claiming the first three wickets. He also pouched a catch and effected the run out of topscorer Oliver Davidson, who made 43 off 93 balls (4x4s).
Sankar finished with 3-17 off seven overs, while Anderson Mahase took 2-16 and Onaje Amory 2-26.
In reply, West Indies lost three wickets- Matthew Nandu (8), Shaqkere Parris (26) and Rivaldo Clarke (13)- before Teddy Bishop and Jordan Johnson saw the hosts to victory.
Bishop, who struck a four and six to close out the game, finished on 23 and Johnson 14. Bowling for Ireland, Charlie Peet took 1-15, Oliver Davidson 1-19 and Jack Jarvis 1-19.
West Indies’ final game in the group stage is against Sri Lanka on Friday in St. Kitts, starting 09:00h.
