Wakenaam man feared dead after boat capsizes
A search is underway for 54-year-old Lakeram Kuber of Wakenaam Island who disappeared after the boat he was in capsized late Thursday night.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 23:00hrs along the Essequibo River.
Reports indicate that Kuber and another man from the island, Feroze Amin, 58, were traveling to Supenaam in Region Two to pick up Floyd Dazzell. The men were in a 100 HP Yamaha outboard engine.
“…as they were returning to Wakanaam the boat capsized and went down,” police reported.
Amin and Dazzell managed to swim to the Wakenaam shore but Kuber went under.
The search is ongoing for Kuber and the boat.
