Former Bishops’ High School teacher Coen Jackson on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to four counts of rape, with the charges legally referred to as “engaging in sexual activity with a child.”

The High Court trial of Jackson has begun before Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Sexual Offences Court.

He is represented by attorneys-at-law Nigel Hughes and Jerome Khan while the State is represented by prosecutors Nafeeza Baig, Muntaz Ali and Latifah Elliot.

Jackson, 43, is charged with engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 by abusing the position of trust in Georgetown between December 2010 and May 2011.

The trial is currently ongoing before a 12-member jury in-camera.

Jackson is currently on $300,000 bail.
