Businessman reportedly busted with illegal gun, ammo released on bail
A businessman was on Friday released on $250,000 for the alleged illegal possession of a gun and ammunition.
Rondy Blyden of Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, was reportedly caught at the Technical Services Unit (TSU) with a forged firearm approval letter.
He appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly and denied the two charges which alleged that on April 4, 2022, at the TSU, he had a Glock 19 pistol along with 49 rounds of 9×19 ammunition in his possession when he was not a licensed firearm holder.
He was represented by attorney-at-law Dexter Todd. He was granted bail and the case is adjourned to May 27, 2022.
The court heard that on the day in question, Blyden went to a private security service in Georgetown and purchased a shotgun using a forged firearm approval letter.
He was told to uplift the firearm at the TSU Headquarters at Eve Leary and upon his arrival there, Blyden presented the forged letter to an officer, who is in charge of the arms store.
After discovering the forged document, ranks arrested Blyden and searched his vehicle when they found the gun and ammo.
