Kwakwani man charged with rape of child
Jamal Gilkes, 23-year-old man from Kwakwani Park, Upper Berbice River was charged with raping a child on Friday, after he was arrested on Tuesday last.
Police Headquarters said the incident reportedly occurred on July 8, 2022, in a community located along the Upper Berbice River.
Gilkes appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plea.
He was remanded to prison and the matter was postponed to November 8, 2022.
