BUDGET 2023: Each child to get $40,000 as ‘Because We Care’ cash grant increases
This year, it is expected that each school-aged child will receive $40,000 as the government plans to increase the Ministry of Education’s ‘Because We Care’ cash grant to $35,000.
With the cash grant, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh said, each child will get the $5,000 uniform grant.
The Minister was at the time presenting the 2023 national budget in the National Assembly on Monday.
All public school children and over 214,000 schoolchildren in private schools will benefit from this allocation. Altogether, these two measures cost some $8.6 billion.
