After two days of promising signs from batsmen, 15 wickets tumbled as the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ Four-Day practice match finished within three days at the National Stadium, Providence, on Monday.

Resuming on 378-6, Tagenarine Chanderpaul XI was bowled out for 429 in 98.1 overs as Kevin Sinclair did not add to his overnight score of 40 but Antony Adams progressed from five to 23 and Clinton Pestano made 21.

Ronsford Beaton led the way with 4-84 from 24 overs while Ronaldo Alimohamed took 2-27 from 8.1 overs and there was a wicket apiece for Richie Looknauth (1-52), Nial Smith (1-54), Junior Sinclair (1-56) and Ashmead Nedd (1-72).

With a deficit of 168, Veerasammy Permaul XI was then bowled out for 186 in 53 overs as pacer Shamar Joseph hit his straps again with 2-17 to end with match figures of 6-47 while Kevin Sinclair took 2-20.

Adams (1-10), Gudakesh Motie (1-11), Jonathan Rampersaud (1-25), and Zeynul Ramsammy (1-25) also chimed in on the wickets.

Kevlon Anderson showed some fight with 40 (7x4s) from 101 balls while Matthew Nandu, who missed a century in the first innings, got 24.

Nedd (22) and Shamar Yearwood (21) were the batters to muster some resistance.

With just 18 needed for victory, Kemol Savory made 14 (3x4s) from six balls to compliment his majestic 170 in the first innings while Chanderpaul was unbeaten on five after Smith dismissed Chandrapaul Hemraj with his first ball.

Harpy Eagles have another Four-Day practice match scheduled from January 19, and it could be the last shot for some players to cement their sport with numerous places up for grabs as close to six senior players are unavailable due to overseas commitments.

February 1 will mark the start of the Regional Four-Day season with the Eagles in action against defending champions, Barbados Pride, in Antigua after which they travel to Grenada to face Windward Volcanoes from February 8.
