Construction worker arrested with ganja at police roadblock
A 27-year-old construction worker was nabbed with 3, 563 grams of marijuana while travelling in a minibus Monday afternoon.
Police Headquarters reported that several vehicles including minibus – BAC 6035 – were stopped during a roadblock on the Helena Public Road, East Coast Demerara between 16:00 hrs and 17:20 hrs.
The suspect, Kellon Adams, a resident of Marshal Street, Annandale, East Coast Demerara was observed acting suspiciously.
He had a haversack in his possession.
Police said a search was conducted and two bulky transparent plastic, containing the marijuana was found.
Adams was told of the offense, cautioned and taken to the Mahaica Police Station.
There, the marijuana was weighed and lodged. Adams remains in custody pending charges.
