Truck driver arrested with narcotics in toolbox

Reaaz Bacchus, a 41-year-old truck driver was nabbed with 9.25 kilograms of cannabis which was found hidden in a toolbox last Friday.
Police Headquarters reported that ranks intercepted a truck, GAG 2438, driven by Bacchus in the vicinity of Bagostown public road, East Bank Demerara.
A search was conducted and two bulky shopping bags, which was in a toolbox under the truck was found.

The bags contained 18 parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, Police said.
Bacchus, a resident of New Amsterdam, Berbice was the lone occupant of the truck.
Police said he was told of the offence committed, cautioned and claimed a “Rastaman” gave him the bags to drop off over the “west side”.
Bacchus was arrested and escorted to the Providence Police Station.
He was placed in custody as the investigation continues.
