A law enforcement operation in Regional Police Division #6 on Tuesday, spanning from 03:30 to 13:00 hrs along the Berbice River uncovered an illegal shotgun and matching ammunition. The coordinated Cordon, Search, and Eradication Exercise was aimed at addressing illicit activities in the region.

During the operation, police officers targeted a one-storey wooden house located in Fort Nassau. The property, occupied by two male individuals, was abandoned when the suspects fled upon noticing the approaching law enforcement personnel.

Upon gaining access to the vacant premises, the officers conducted a thorough search. They discovered a Browning shotgun, along with five live cartridges and one suspected spent cartridge. The firearm and ammunition were seized by the authorities, as no firearm license was found with the items.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident and have urged anyone with information about the escaped individuals or the seized items to come forward.
