Man, 36, remanded to prison after assaulting wife
Amit Jowhair, a 36-year-old security guard of Hampshire Village, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne), was remanded to prison on Monday after he reportedly assaulted his wife.
Police Headquarters reported that the man was arrested on Friday and charged on Monday. He was charged for ‘Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm’ and other offences against with 38-year-old wife.
He appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Michelle Matthais on Monday but pleaded not guilty. He was remanded to the New Amsterdam Prison.
The case has been postponed to October 4.
